Did you know that male and female baby boomers date younger people for totally different reasons? This is because life is divided into stages. These stages mean different things to both males and females.

Sexual Peak

For the male baby boomer, the sexual desire at this age will be waning and thus the need for a partner who can boost his confidence levels. Therefore, a relationship with a younger female will require some concessions for both parties. Unlike the female baby boomer relationship with a younger male which can be centered on sex, the relationship between a male baby boomer and a younger female is centered on emotional fulfillment. Other differences between the two relationships are:

Goals

A female baby boomer who has never been married before does not waste time on relationships without clear cut goals. At her age, she has probably had a fair share of marriage proposals thrown her way. The fact that she is single says a lot about her. Therefore, when she decides to date a younger man, it is because she has not found anyone who can meet her expectations within her own age group. That means that the young man should get his act together in the relationship or will be cut off.

For the male baby boomer, dating younger females calls for different rules all together. A female belonging to the echo boomer generation is probably trying to prove herself to the world. She wants to prove that she can take care of herself. She is still developing her adult identity. Less is expected of her at this age.

Best of two worlds

The female baby boomer will date a younger man who can support her decisions in life. One of these decisions may be career support. A younger man will be less likely to be in a hurry to start a family. Dating a younger man provides the perfect opportunity for a female baby boomer to build her career and be in a relationship at the same time.

If you happen to have a lot of time on your hands and are tired of the same old routine (such as watching television, walking the dog, sitting around at home with a cup of coffee or some other thing), here are a couple of things you should consider as a new hobby. After all, you deserve something new and exciting…this is the prime of your life!

PHOTOGRAPHY. With the advent of the digital camera, photography has now become a popular hobby among the old and the young. This is because digital cameras have made picture taking fast, easy and cheap! Digital cameras have digital displays. These are called LCDs, and you get to see what you shoot, so you’ll know directly if you took a great picture or not! Digital is now the easiest and cheapest way to go, rather than using old cameras that needed film. So even if you’re still a budding photographer, you don’t have to worry about wasting any film when you take bad pictures, because you can always delete it and shoot again!

CREATIVE WRITING. Is an afternoon with coffee too common already? Then why not have a lovely time with a cup of coffee while dabbling in creative writing. Jotting down what you feel, think and want can be a great emotional outlet for you. You don’t have to be a poet or a novelist to do this, nor do you have to have a degree in creative writing or journalism. Just whip up a notebook (or your laptop) and start writing away. Don’t worry about the form, or about having nothing relevant to write about, just jot down whatever comes into your head. It might not make sense at first, but the idea is to let those creative juices flow freely. When you finally are at ease with writing, then you can start moving on to more complicated things like poems, novels, essays and stories.

VEGETABLE GARDENING. Gardening can be a fun and therapeutic way to spend time. Growing a vegetable garden is one of the easiest and best ways to get fresh organic vegetables. Talk about healthy! If you live in an apartment or don’t have space for a garden, you can always buy little pots and grow herbs near your kitchen sink (or anywhere you have sunlight). This is really great if you also love cooking.

These are just a couple of hobbies to start off with when if you find yourself tired with the routines of life. There is, however, more stuff to do! Visit boomeryearbook.com, connect with other boomers – Boomer Yearbook might become the best new pastime yet!

Grab bag? Secret Santa? Dirty Santa? Any one of these are great ways to give gifts during the holidays, especially if you have a large family. For those of you who may have never heard of these traditions, let me explain each of them.

Grab bag: This is pretty simple. A name is put on a small piece of paper, and put into a hat or bowl. Each person in the family picks a name and that is the person they buy a gift for. With a grab bag, there is usually a price limit set so that it makes it more fair. The best time to do the name distributing is perhaps at Thanksgiving when the same members are most likely to be together that will be together for Christmas, plus it gives a month for them to buy the gift. It is ok to know who picked your name, then you can give that person some gift ideas you may like.

Secret Santa: Pretty much the same as a grab bag, except that who is buying your gift, is kept a secret. This is fun, because after getting the gift, you might be very surprised how well the person does or does not know you, based on the gift they bought.

Dirty Santa: This has to be my favorite of all time. Everyone brings a wrapped gift (again this usually has a maximum price limit set) . The gifts are placed on a table, and each person takes a number from a hat or bowl. The person that has number one picks a gift from the table, however when the person with number 2 picks a gift, they can take from the table, or “steal” the gift from #1. Then the first person has to take another from the pile of gifts. You continue to do this to the last person and the last gift is taken. Its fun, to see what gift you would have had, if someone wasn’t “dirty” and taken the gift from you.

What traditions do you have when it’s time to give gifts? What is your favorite? Why not share them over at Boomer Yearbook, and hey who knows, maybe someone will find a new and exciting tradition to try with their family and friends.

Personally, I am not one who bakes at anytime of the year. However, I have many very talented friends that bake all the time, especially at the holidays. Therefore, I get to enjoy this great holiday tradition, either through helping them bake, or through eating the goodies…my favorite part.

Baking is a great activity that the whole family can enjoy, from Grandpa to the youngest Grandchild.

Picture this:

Grandpa carries in all the bags from the car, which hold all the ingredients you will need.

Grandma gets all the measuring situated that will be needed for each treat.

Mom gathers the bowls, spoons, and other “accessories”.

The children help to mix each item together to begin the magic.

Dad carefully places the scoops of treats onto the cookie sheet.

Grandma then places them into the oven.

The children anxiously watch the miracle of these various ingredients turning into yummy morsels of goodness.

Grandpa removes them from the oven when they are done.

Mom carefully removes them once they are cooled and places a few on each persons plate.

Dad pours everyone a glass of milk.

Finally, the real fun begins and the entire family sits down to watch holiday movies on the television as they enjoy the yummy treats that they all helped to make.

What a great plan! Want to chime in? Have your own Holiday experiences to share?

Continue your trip down memory at Boomer Yearbook.
