Lessons From Grandma

Grandparents are awesome people. However I myself, can only speak towards Grandmothers, as I never had a Grandfather that I was able to meet. I often think of what it would have been like to have a Grandpa in my life when I was a child.
Grandmothers are known by so many names. Grandma, Granny, Nana are just a few of them. I am not sure what some of the names are for Grandfathers, other than Papa, but would love to hear some of them. My Grandmother (I only knew one of my grandmothers, who happened to also be the woman who raised my sisters and I) was known as Gram by all of her Grandchildren.
Gram taught me how to cook, clean, be strong, be kind, and best of all how to love. We would do things together like mend clothes on her old sewing machine, make clothes with the old McCalls patterns that we would buy from Joann Fabrics and other similar stores. We made some of the cutest outfits for me to wear to school, or Halloween costumes. Hmmm, I just may have some of them packed away somewhere.
She was well known for telling the “when I was a little girl” stories. I swore I would never say that to a child, but guess what, I have said it many times to my nieces and nephews. She showed me ways to make the smallest amount of leftovers stretch into two totally different dishes. I cant say I remember many of them, but I do remember her doing it.
Being a stay at home mom, I sometimes wonder how I will get through my day. However seeing the things my Gram would do to always make sure we were happy and taken care of, gives me confidence that I can do this and you know why…because Gram was the best teacher!
Do you have any special memories or lessons you learned from Grandma, or maybe even Grandpa?
